• Reasons Why Straight Hair Rocks

    Posted by Gift Odiete

Straight hair is an often-coveted, universally flattering hair type. It’s always in style, and it gives a sleek, put-together look to the person wearing it. There are many reasons to fall in love with straight hair. It is very on -trend, versatile and simple. The clean appearance of straight hair frames the face beautifully. Unfortunately there's no place to hide mistakes in fine straight hair and thin hair. Below are few reasons why straight hair rocks:

    • A timeless look: Straight hair never truly goes out of style, meaning that your easy-to-maintain locks will always be in vogue.
    • Get Experimental: It is very convenient to mould straight hair into any hairstyle. In fact, most of the styling ideas go best with straight hair.

    • Easy to maintain: straight hair makes it easy to brush and go! Other hair types take more work but straight haired girls are blessed with the ability to roll out of bed and take on the world –with minimal hair-styling effort required.
    • Shine all day everyday: The hair cuticles lie much flatter with straight hairstyles than they do with curly hair, meaning that your locks are more likely to look shiny and glossy!

    • Less Heat:  Less heat is needed to style straight hair because you’re not trying to tame wild waves and curls –this means your hair will be less damaged as a result!
    • Things wash out of it easily (shampoo, peanut butter, marinara sauce etc)
    • Best hair for working professionals: It gives a very corporate look without much time investment for setting it every day.

    • Long, straight hair can frame your face, highlighting your best features — such as your eyes, your cheekbones, your lips — while drawing attention away from those features you don’t want to emphasize.

  • Some things to consider when deciding on hair extension lengths.

    Posted by Gift Odiete

Before jumping in and selecting a length at random or based on price, it is first worth considering a few points to be sure you are making the right choice. No matter what your reason for getting extensions is, it's important to choose the right length. Here are some things to consider when deciding on hair extension lengths.

    • Wavy/ Curly /Straight Hair Extensions

Before you decide on a length, be sure to consider whether you want wavy/curly or straight hair extensions. Wavy/curly extensions tend to look slightly shorter than straight extensions due to the texture of the hair. If you are planning to opt for Wavy/curly extensions, you may want to go one size longer than you would if you're planning to buy straight extensions. Also, keep in mind that wavy/curly extensions tend to feel heavier than straight extensions when you wear them.

    • Comfort

Comfort is a factor to consider when trying to decide on a length that is right for your hair extensions. If you are used to having short hair, it may be difficult for you to adjust to a really long length. Hair extensions that are no longer than 18" are generally suitable for those with short hair. On the other hand, you may feel comfortable wearing longer extensions if you have medium to long hair.

    • Where will the hair sit on my body?

When thinking about the length you wish to go for, often you think about this in terms of where the hair will sit against your body e.g I want the hair to come down to my bra line.  As a rule of thumb the picture to the right is a rough estimate for where on your back your hair extensions will reach, however as you will see from the additional tips below this is only an estimate, and not a one size fits all guide.

    • Future trimming

when choosing a length you will want to consider any future trimming or styling you have in mind.  If you like to mix up your hair style regularly, you may wish to opt for a longer length so that once the extensions are fitted, as the months pass you have the ability to cut and trim your hair into different styles, getting shorter as you go but still having lengthy hair extensions.  The longer your hair extensions are, the more styling opportunities you will find.

    • Cost

If you are in between 2 lengths, it is usually recommended that you purchase the longer of the two.  If you are between 16” and 18” for example, a full head of 16” hair extensions will cost approx. #61,500 to purchase, and 18” will be #66,500, a #5,000 difference.  If you are undecided and opt for the longer length, although costing slightly more, you can always have them cut and trimmed if the length is a little longer than you expected, and it would have cost you an additional #5,000.  If you opt for the 16” and find they are too short however, you would have spent #61,500 on extensions you aren’t quite happy with.  Purchasing the longer length protects you again disappointment in the event you are unsure of the finished look.

Now you have a better understanding of what you will need to take into consideration when choosing your hair extension length, you should be able to choose a length that is suited to your needs to ensure your hair extensions look exactly as you planned them to, avoiding any unnecessary disappointments.

  • Few Tips On How To Choose The Perfect Hair Extension

    Posted by Gift Odiete

Everyone wants to achieve that natural hair extension look. Hair extensions should flow with your natural hair seamlessly if doing a partial sew in and blend so well that others are not able to tell that you are actually wearing extensions. Or you can get bundles and a closure or frontal to match flawlessly. When purchasing hair extensions there are three things you should keep in mind:

    • Texture of the hair

    • Length of the hair

    • Color of the hair

     Texture Of The Hair

Consider the texture of your hair, is your hair straight, wavy or curly? Choose your hair extensions according to the texture of your hair, avoid wearing curly extensions if you have straight or wavy hair as it will not look attractive and may even be difficult for you to manage. If you choose a hair texture that does not match your natural hair, then your hair extensions will not look as natural or blend with your hair. Needless to say, you will have to buy hair extensions according to the texture of your hair.

    Length of the hair

No matter what your reason for getting extensions is, it's important to choose the right length. Here are some things to consider when deciding on hair extension lengths. Comfort is another factor to consider when trying to decide on a length that is right for your hair extensions.

    Color of the hair

One of the problems that most women have with extensions are the fact that they do not perfectly blend into their natural hair because the color is just slightly off. A perfect color match means your hair extensions will blend seamlessly with your hair and look very natural. When purchasing ombre extensions simply match the base color of the extensions to your own hair color and then choose the ombre color you want. If you have short or medium length hair, you will be able to wear ombre hair extensions without already having your own hair ombre. (No chemicals required, no money spent on color at the salon).

  • You Can Ombre Your Own Hair

    Posted by Gift Odiete

First things first what is an Ombre? Ombre is the French word for color that is shaded or graduated in tone.

There are two types of ombre: Traditional, and reverse. The traditional ombre has a lighter color at the tips of your hair than at the roots, while a reverse ombre has darker tips and lighter roots.

Reverse ombre is just a little bit less popular than regular ombre, because it bears a risk of appearing foreign on your beautiful locks. Medium to light toned ladies who love their blonde but want something different and edgy look great in this reverse ombre. Hair texture that is medium to thick

How to achieve the perfect ombre

Step 1: Select your hair color, choosing a color that works well with your natural color is best. You should choose a lighter shade of brown or a shade of blonde.

Step 2: Draw a demarcation line where you want the fade to stop. The lower the fade meets the better it looks.

Step 3: If bundles are installed in head put on an old t-shirt that you wouldn’t mind messing up and comb through your hair thoroughly to ensure even coloring. If bundles are not yet installed place a smock or trash bag on the floor and place bundles on top. you can leave bundles banded up which makes it a lot easier to work with.

Step 4: Put on gloves before dealing with the bleach. You will need to use bleach to lift the color from your hair, use equal parts of whichever volume peroxide you choose and powdered bleach. Mix 2oz each with your choice of volume peroxide and bleach powder until they are combined into a thick creamy consistent mixture.

Step 5: Divide your hair into four even sections. If your hair is long and/or thick, you may want to divide it into more sections. Pin or tie each section off to separate it from the rest. Tease up the hair around the area where you want the ombre to begin. Teasing your hair around this area will help prevent a stark line where you applied the beach.

Step 6: Apply bleach from tips of the hair all the way up to your stopping point and repeat with each section.

Step 7: Let hair sit until it reaches the desired color and then wash the bleach out the hair. Let hair air dry or blow dry the extensions style and you’re ready to rock your hair
